Who We Are
TAAP is the official GTA alumnae panhellenic of the National Panhellenic Conference. Membership is open to any alumna of any of NPC's 26 member groups who is living in the Greater Toronto Area.
Toronto & Area Alumnae Panhellenic is a group of women dedicated to staying connected to Greek Life through sisterhood, activities, social events, philanthropic initiatives, and our annual Scholarship Luncheon.
The National Panhellenic Conference, one of the largest organizations advocating for women, is the umbrella group for 26 national and international sororities that are autonomous social organizations. NPC sororities are located on more than 670 campuses with 380,565 undergraduate members in 3,234 chapters. Alumnae are represented in 3,889 associations throughout the world.
There are many benefits to membership in an alumnae chapter including an introduction to a new community - an instant circle of new friends in a city you may not know very well. Alumnae chapters also provide opportunities for philanthropic and community activities, business and networking opportunities, and fun social events. Alumnae chapters volunteer with, and support individual Sorority/Fraternity alumnae chapters and collegiate panhellenics.
When you join TAAP, you will receive our annual newsletter, which includes the annual activities of collegian and alumnae chapters in Southern Ontario, access to our members' calendar, and invitations to social events and member development programming events and seminars. Your membership will also support the annual scholarships we give to two deserving women at our Scholarship Luncheon.
Our Story
The Toronto City Alumnae Panhellenic was officially affiliated with the National Panhellenic Conference on January 1, 1954. The organization started with 10 advisors from the U of T sororities who met in early 1953 and decided to form a city wide alumnae group. It seems that many city panhellenics were forming around this time. The Toronto group was the third Canadian city panhelllenic. The NPC convention of 1954 notes that the Toronto petition was held up as a great example for others to follow.
The name change to Toronto Area Alumnae Panhellenic was voted on in 1991. Today, TAAP is a thriving group of strong women supporting and empowering each other long after graduating college or university.
TAAP does not currently have representation from the following groups. Please contact us, if you would like to learn more about getting your NPC group involved in the Greater Toronto Area!
